Wunderlich oil cooler guard – maintains cooling performance and helps prevent overheating
For an oil cooler to deliver optimum cooling performance, it must be optimally supplied with and penetrated by the airflow. Particularly on air/oil-cooled engines, the function of the oil cooler is crucial for maintaining a healthy thermal balance. It is positioned directly in the airflow of the oncoming air. However, this also has a downside: the oil cooler is exposed to swirling dirt, stones and foreign objects that can strike the delicate fins of the cooler. Over time, dirt and insects can clog the cooling matrix and reduce cooling performance, just as bent fins caused by stone impact do. In the worst case, sharp-edged foreign objects can cause damage leading to leaks. Riding on with a damaged cooler is then no longer possible.
We therefore recommend our oil protection grille, made from a fine-mesh, tough and highly durable stainless steel mesh, to prevent damage and catch coarse contamination before it can affect the oil cooler. It reliably protects the oil cooler without reducing airflow.
