Unfortunately, word has gotten around that the TFT displays are simply clipped on and secured with three delicate snap rings. This locking mechanism can be easily bypassed without tools by simply giving the TFT display a short tug. As a result, reports of stolen TFT displays are increasing, often accompanied by collateral damage to the bike. The thieves aren't exactly gentle.
This is doubly annoying: without a TFT display, continuing the journey is impossible. This can prove particularly inconvenient on a trip abroad. Furthermore, replacing the instrument cluster, as a central, complex control unit, is extremely expensive.
